About John Ryan

John Ryan's life path has led him to focus on teaching and learning. With a previous career as a teacher, he became inspired to be a lifelong learner. John taught high school biology, physics, and mathematics for several years. While he thoroughly enjoyed teaching, he longed to spend more time in the outdoors.

In 2010, John moved to Portland and began a new career applying his science background as an arborist. John, an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist, is now dedicated to learning about and teaching in the natural world, specializing in the biology and health of trees and shrubs.
